Sounds like you had a great time; I'm glad! Not sure why anyone in the store itself would be saying you're too old; that's just silly IMO.
Oh my gosh. I am still shocked of how GREAT AGPLA was.
I have to tell every single detail.
Okay, where do I begin??? I LOVED how AGPLA was in a shopping area, not on the middle of a street corner, like AGPNY. I thought that was very cute. So not only can I go AG shopping, they've got Nordstrom and Bath and Body works. Uh oh, I'm dangerous.
Anyway, we got there at about 8:45 and we waited outside. There were so many cute little girls arriving with their dolls! There was this one girl and her mother who I later talked to a little bit. I was behind her in the checkout line, and her daughter was giving her "puppy eyes" to buy something. The lady laughed and turned around and says to me "She's so bad!" and all I had to say was "I'm worse."
We went in for brunch which was very good. I got the keish (sp?) which was very good. I didn't bring a doll because I knew I was going to get one there. I could barely stand sitting in the cafe waiting for my parents to be done because I knew there was great shopping out there waiting for me! I was sooooo anxious.
After an hour looking intently in every historical section, I picked out the most gorgeous Addy!!!! I couldn't be happier really. It was funny though, I picked out one with a hardcover book, which I didn't want because I wanted to get the Doll, Paperback & Accessories for $100 deal. When I went to check out, I asked the lady if she could just switch the book and the cover. She was SOOOO confused, I had to explain to her that it was THIS certain Addy that I wanted! She didn't understand. She simply thought I was crazy and did it for me anyway, lol.
I bought a bunch of stuff, probably totaling in close to $300. *embarassed* But I had my own money, a gift certificate, and money from my dad for just the AGPLA trip. Today I got these wonderful gifts:
-Addy Doll & Accessories
-School Suit & Blouse
-Nightgown
-Ida Bean Doll
-Lamp and Needlework Kit
-Rope Bed & Mattress
-Family Album Quilt
-Addy's Ribbons
And I also got
-Samantha's Cranberry Christmas Dress
-Nellie's Pajamas
-Birthday Girl Outfit for Casey (for my birthday too, lol).
-Haircare Kit.
O0o0o! I'm sooo excited. Everyone was so beautiful, I must have gone up and down the stairs about 20 times. It was really funny because everytime the employees saw me, they were like "You're on a roll today!". *hehe*. It was really rude though, that I found some people stop and talk about me behind my back, and I even had one man yell "Your too old for this stuff!". It made me want to leave and it made it worse. Why can't people just see that this stuff is for EVERYBODY?
But other than that, everything was so great. After leaving the store, I rushed to the car and opened everything! I even assembled Addy's bed in the car, hehe. I love everything. It's so great.
Addy is just gorgeous, I'm just having a little bit of frustration with her hair. I guess I'm going to have to get used to "flyaways", because there seems to be tons of those. But she is so adorable. I'm so glad I got her!
Wow, this is long! If I find anything to add, I will.
and YES, I did take pictures! I took kinda a lot, so I'll have to make an album when I have more time, which isn't now. Sorry!
YAY!!!!
-SUPER happy Elle! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
PS: Here is one pic of Addy!

Smiling.
I know just how you felt. I am so very glad you had such a wonderful time for your birthday at AG. (Forget the man.) I am proud of you that you stuck it out and got just what you wanted.
On Wes. I will be walking down the mall street with Maddy and Shelly in their stroller. Now don't you think I am going to get looks? I am way older then you are.

Your Addy is very pretty (grrr, don't tempt me; I certainly don't need 3 dolls on my eventually-might-buy list!)! And happy birthday!
Your Addy is pretty! I love the detail of the nightgown, I'll have to buy that now, I never knew it was so pretty.
That's so rude that about the guy who said you were too old!
Who is he to talk?- he's a grown man in a doll store!

Thanks everyone. I don't want to grow up. I wish I could still be a little 10 year old. But now goin' on into the middle of my teenage years. I feel so sad!
hehe.

Happy Birthday! Your trip to AGPLA sounded great!
(forget that man, he sounded like an idiot- I knew plenty of collectors when I was in high school)
Can't wait to see the pictures!
What a beautiful Addy!
What a lovely day you had - I can imagine your excitement. I'm sorry about the rude remarks you had to listen to, but don't forget you're never too old for a doll (or two - or three... )
Congratulations on your new Addy! She's gorgeous and I know what you mean about getting 'the right one'. Enjoy her!
